On May 30th 1967..Lt Col. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Military Governor of Eastern Nigeria declered the state of Biafra.
After the independence of Nigeria, no other event has defined Nigeria like Biafra.
So many things you wonder about are because of Biafra eg why it took till 2012 for the SE to get an international airport.
Nigeria changed after Biafra....and even today in 2016....Nigeria is changing because of Biafra
Today we have the Odua People's Congress. ...the Arewa Consultative Assembly and the MASSOB....reminders that Nigeria is built around tribes...not a constitution.
A wise Chief once referred to Nigeria as "geography". ..the civil war ensured that geographical entity called Nigera stayed as one...but can we really say we have made progress from "geography" to a nation of different people, religions and customs"?
