of sun and land

finally...
The rains are coming...
power supply can now start improving...
soon we will see pictures like the one below of broken beer bottles.in cold DISCO powered fridges....and hear of milestones in megawatts....and bodies of language.....
nonsense.
To get power supply we have to continue the police of decentralization.....and yes power tariffs have to go up.
However we must seek out other sources of power generation especially solar power that does not require miles and miles of transmission....
Morocco is building the largest concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in the world in Ouarzazate , the first phase of the project, called Noor 1, was operational in 2015. it generate 160mw, the entire project will generate 580mw.
The project uses molten salt technology to store power for 3 hours, so it can transmit solar power when the sun goes down, when complete the entire project will be able to store power for 8 hours.
Morocco does not have oil...they import 94% of their energy...they used to pay subsidies on imported fossil fuels. With the termal solar plant, they intend to start exporting power to even Europe...
what does Morocco have? sun and land
what does Sokoto state have? sun and land
what does Niger state have? sun and land
what does Adamawa State have sun and land
what does Yobe have ? sun and land
so why is Morocco building the world largest solar plant, and in Nigeria the states are still fighting over share of dwindling crude oil sales?
we are a nation that does not plan...we dont do strategic plans...where we do, we dont implement.
Nigeria has no large scale solar plant, none. The entire North East has no major power generating assets...but they have sun and land...in fact, they earn crude oil revenues from having land.....yet the land untapped...
so back to our beer bottles....soon we will start celebrating "improved power"...we will post our frozen beer bottles...tweet it...we will praise someone.........
then the rains will stop.....then we will cry.....when will we get serious?
What can we do?
Tax the flaring of gas, use the cash generated and build clean renewable solar farms across the North...
Nigeria will earn carbon credits, use the carbon credits and fund environmental regeneration in the Niger Delta.
time to start solving problems...
its our problem, we can fix it
